Overview

eXperience Working Equitation in its country of origin riding the magnificent Lusitano horse, known by its unique beauty, strength, character and courage.

Improve your riding skills with classical dressage lessons while riding in the indoor arena with natural lighting and background music in schoolmaster purebred Lusitanos.

Due to its physical and psychological characteristics, the Lusitano was used to improve various European horse breeds and is considered to be the oldest saddle horse in the world. Easy to handle and to teach, it's the ideal horse for every rider. Brave and practical, it is able to perform any exercise easily and because of its flexibility it suits any riding style.

The resident instructor has been teaching for more than 10 years in Portugal and Europe. After several years teaching in one of the most renowned school and riding holidays centre in Portugal, he now shares his time between teaching exclusively at the farm's equestrian centre and competing at national level in Portuguese Equitation and Working Equitation. There is a maximum of two riders per lesson, thus enabling your instructors to fully focus on each detail and provide a high-quality teaching.

The Equestrian Centre is built around the Lusitano horse and settled in a beautiful farm. Just in 30min drive from Lisbon, you have a chance to "get lost in time" and feel the rhythm of a typical old Portuguese village surrounded by vineyards, gorgeous landscapes and Montejunto mountain views. The swimming pool overlooks the traditional vineyards of the area in a quiet part of the farm, allowing you to eXperience the peace and tranquility of the western Lisbon region. There is a relaxing restroom beside the pool where you may enjoy some time either reading or just relaxing and appreciating the bar. Between the bedrooms and the dining room there is a lovely terrace with sofas and tables where you can enjoy some beautiful afternoons while appreciating some good Portuguese wine. On the other hand, if you prefer walking, there is much of the farm to explore, the surrounding area and paths leading to the village.

The farm is part of the Western Wine Route, and have a partnership with one winery where you will be able to go on tour and taste some typical Portuguese wines. In your spare time, you can visit the beautiful Santa Cruz beach. The entire western area is filled with typical vineyards and wineries where you can visit some of them and taste their very famous Portuguese wines. The surrounding villages are very typical and peaceful, with magnificent landscapes. In addition to the surrounding area you can also visit the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art, only 45km away from the farm.

Programme Outline

Every person is different so as every rider. Lessons are conducted on a private basis so you will work on what you really want to improve. To ensure nothings is missed you often start a lesson with one instructor and end the lesson with another.
Individual headsets are available to ensure all indications are clearly received.
This eXperience is the greatest expression of the term "horse riding holidays"!
According to your programme you will ride once or twice a day. In your free time you can relax by the pool or enjoy all the marvelous environment in the estate were often you can see the instructors training the beautiful Lusitanos or giving a lesson to other guests.
A heavenly beach hack is available* where you ride the beautiful Lusitanos through the sand of Praia da Areia.

Dressage programme
This programme consists of 1 hour lessons where various types of exercises are performed from the simplest to the most complex, focusing on the evolution of the rider and building his ability up.
All of the farm's horses are purebred Lusitanos and are trained up to execute the most difficult exercises of the Grand Prix. Let this magnificent horses teach you.
The farm's riding instructor is highly experienced. He taught for many years at a well known horse riding centre and is now collaborating exclusively with the farm.
Lessons take place in the indoor arena with natural lighting and background music.
There is a maximum of two riders per lesson, thus enabling your instructor to fully focus on each detail and provide a high-quality teaching.

Working Equitation programme*
Enjoy the eXperience of riding a Lusitano horse and do all obstacles of a Working Equitation track.
The farm's instructor has a vast experience in Working Equitation and Portuguese Equitation still competing at national level. During the programme you have the opportunity to ride with the Portuguese Saddle and learn more about how to prepare the horses for competition.
The Working Equitation Programme start on first days with dressage lessons. After you will be introduced to the obstacles track depending on your evolution and level during the week.
There is a maximum of two riders per lesson, thus enabling your instructor to fully focus on each detail and provide a high-quality teaching.

Additional activities

Additional information

Transfers available from Lisbon Airport | Airport Gateway LIS | €70 per vehicle each way payable locally. If you want to visit the area during your stay, a driver is available with an additional cost
